Just three miles beyond the Volcano House is one of the most unique campsites to visit in the world. Nestled amidst a fragrant eucalyptus grove, 4,000 feet above sea level, the historic Namakanipaio Campground offers a rustic, one-of-a-kind camping experience within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
There are three options when thinking about camping at Namakanipaio. Our most comfortable option is to stay in one of 10 Camper Cabins, recently refurbished with new flooring and beds. Visitors have use of the community campground facilities, which includes a refurbished bathroom. Campsites are also available for visitors who prefer to rent a tent from Volcano House, or bring their own camping equipment.
All guests must pay the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park entrance fee. The fee is $20 per non-commercial vehicle, or $15 per individual traveling on motorcycle, $10 per individual traveling on bicycles, and $5 per individual traveling on foot. Entrance is valid for 7 consecutive days. For group entrance fees and more fee information, visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park’s website.
